In South Wales, you’ll never be short of places to visit or new activities to try on your caravan holidays.

If you love the buzz of city life, make sure you take a trip to the dynamic town of Cardiff. From shopping and museums by day to opera and restaurants by night, there’s always something to keep you busy while on your caravan holidays. Why not go on a guided tour of the city to check out all the highlights? Taking the stress out of exploring, you can always go back and revisit all your favourite spots.

For a true fairy tale experience, make sure you take the children to a picnic at Cardiff castle. With on-site entertainment, kids will be delighted by the live music, costumes and walkabout entertainers.

Outside of Cardiff, South Wales has miles of unspoiled countryside to discover. There’s two fabulous national parks to visit, including Brecon Beacon and the Pembrokeshire coast. Covering 542 square miles, Brecon Beacon Park stretches from Hay-on-Wye in to Llandeilo and includes four spectacular mountain ranges. Whether you hire bikes or take a walk round one of the many winding footpaths, you and your family will love the stunning scenery and peaceful atmosphere.

Nature lovers must also take a trip to the National Botanic gardens of Wales. Home to the Great Glass Greenhouse, designed by famous architect Norman Foster, this 568 acre park has plenty to explore. Check out the wild flowers, impressive plant life or simply take a quiet stroll around the picturesque Japanese gardens.

To get a real taste of history on your caravan holidays, a visit to The Big Pit National Coal mining museum is essential. Closed as a working mine in 1980, the pit is now home to a wealth of information on the industry. Led by ex-miners, pit tours happen on a daily basis, explaining the history of the trade. Entry to the museum is free, making it a fascinating, affordable day trip for the whole family.
